This past summer, Dr. Agbotse traveled to Woadze, a village where her husband was born, and asked if the local school had a library. The answer was no. In response, she brought a small bookcase filled with 135 books and named it the Christopher & Henrietta Children’s Library, honoring her husband’s late parents, who were respected leaders in the community.
But when we arrived, we realized the need was far greater than we had imagined: there was no library within 100 miles, classrooms lacked electricity, desks were crowded, and teachers were doing their best with extremely limited resources. We knew that this small library was only the beginning of a much larger vision—a full-scale learning center that could serve not only Woadze but seven neighboring villages.
The community’s response was immediate and heartfelt. The village chief generously offered land to expand this vision into a true community center—a learning hub that would serve over 3,000 people from Woadze and the surrounding villages.
