“Education is our passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for it today.”
– Malcom X
Dr. Shannon M. Stanton Agbotse is the founder and Director of Hosanna Academy. After twenty years in the field of education, she developed Hosanna Academy to provide a safe space, both physically and emotionally, for students to soar academically and personally. She saw that too often schools ignored the uniqueness and talents of children for a standard, one-size-fits-all curriculum. Hosanna will be an environment where children are nurtured academically, spiritually, and emotionally.
Dr. Agbotse, a former Long Beach Unified School District teacher, received her undergraduate training from UCLA in English and African American Studies, and her graduate training in Education from Harvard University (Ed.M.), CSU Dominguez Hills (Teaching Credential) and UC Berkeley (Ph.D.). Currently, she is also a professor at Whittier College in the Department of Education and Child Development. She has worked as a literacy consultant and in curriculum development.
Teaching is her passion. Dr. Agbotse desires to see each student reach his or her potential by developing the abilities and talents of each individual student and build on their strengths.
